A recent invitation-only brainstorming session of about 100 nursing leaders and educators covered hot topics like retention and workplace diversity as participants explored the future of nursing education, according to Nurse.com.

The meeting was hosted at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood, PA, and took place during a Southeastern Pennsylvania Deans and Directors Alliance (SEPDDA) conference. During the session, the group concluded that healthcare facilities are more interesting in hiring nursing students who think critically and organize than those who boast specific competencies. Additionally, hospitals agreed that they desire passionate nurses who have a sense of identity within their profession.

SEPDDA notes that the goal of the meeting was to create partnerships between leaders and educators so they could learn from each other's strategies and discuss common nursing issues.
