Recognize the positive image of nursing
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, February 12, 2008
Force of Magnetism 12: Image of nursing is a reflection of how nurses see themselves and their profession. Nurses are an integral part of the hospital's ability to provide quality patient care and make ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designation happen. Illustrate the image of nursing in a positive way by following these examples:
- Provide a link to the nursing Web page from the hospital home page
- Select a nurse every month to highlight on the nursing Web page
- Create a display case that features awards won by staff nurses
- Recognize nurse involvement in interdisciplinary patient-centered organizational committees by holding pizza parties or ice cream socials for the unit the nurse works for
