Demonstrating evidence for personnel policies
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, February 12, 2008
When the University of Chicago Medical Center in Chicago, IL--an ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®-designated recipient--was looking for ways to exemplify Force of Magnetism 4: Personnel policies and programs, it focused on how nurses receive orientation about the staffing guidelines that apply to their daily practice.
Penny Hurley, RN, MS, MBA, director of special projects for patient care services, recommends featuring the following information on how patient-care assignments are conducted:
- Types of assignments new graduate nurses receive
- How admissions are assigned
- How patients in restraints are assigned
- What role clinical nurse specialists play in matching staff assignments to patient needs
