Check improving patient satisfaction off your to-do list
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, February 5, 2008
Without fail, increasing patient satisfaction is on many healthcare organization's to-do list. Check it off by having nurse managers visit each patient every morning. If a patient expresses a concern, the nurse manager can follow up with the staff nurses to coach them about opportunities to delight patients at all times. Another way to increase patient satisfaction is to call patients the day after discharge to let them know that they are still important to you, and to inquire about their satisfaction with their recent care. From this follow-up phone call, you can gather suggestions for improvements and stories of quality care to encourage staff nurses.
