North Carolina hospital departments receive recognition
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, January 22, 2008
Three departments at Durham Regional Hospital in Durham, NC, recently received Hallmarks of Healthy Workplace awards from the North Carolina Nurses Association. The awards were presented to the hospital's endoscopy services unit, post anesthesia care unit, and ambulatory surgical center. Durham Regional Hospital is currently pursuing ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designation, and the Hallmarks awards recognize healthcare organizations that support nursing professional development, the provision of high-quality care, and integration of nursing into operations and shared governance.
During the site visit from Hallmark reviewers, the three departments promoted employee recognition by displaying their career ladder program, patient satisfaction survey results, and patient outcomes. The ambulatory surgical center's patient satisfaction scores were particularly high: it received a score of 99% patient satisfaction from the Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey.
