A nursing program in Wisconsin has been experimenting with using podcasts to record lectures for students.

Podcasts are audio files that can be distributed to students online and downloaded onto a computer. Nursing professors at the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh, WI, have been using podcasts to record classroom lectures. Students unable to attend a class for a legitimate reason are then able to download the audio file and listen to the lecture.

Professors plan to survey students on the usefulness of the podcasts at the end of the quarter. The nursing program's "no-skip" policy dissuades students from skipping classes due to the availability of a podcast.
