Florida hospital rings in the New Year with nursing excellence award
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, January 8, 2008
Baptist Health System in Jacksonville, FL, is celebrating the New Year as the only multi-hospital healthcare system in Northeast Florida to achieve ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® status. After starting its journey toward designation in 2003--which included more than 2,000 pages of documentation and a five-day site visit--Baptist received the nursing excellence award in December. Appraisers met with more than 1,000 nurses, physicians, and community members at all Baptist Medical Centers (Downtown, Beaches, Nassau, and South) plus Wolfson Children's Hospital and Baptist Home Health Care. The appraisers visited nursing units throughout the system and discussed Baptist Health's quality of care and nursing practice with patients, visitors, and healthcare team members.
