Hold a recruiting fair for shared governance council membership
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, December 18, 2007
One way to get direct-care nurses excited about and interested in volunteering for shared governance councils is through an informational recruitment fair. To create your own shared governance recruitment fair, start by setting up informational booths for each of your councils (i.e., nursing quality and patient safety, patient education, and professional nursing development) in the cafeteria. Feature games and give-away prizes at the booth such as massage gift certificates, movie tickets, or coffee coupons and provide snacks like cookies, popcorn, and cupcakes. At each booth hand out informational brochures on the individual council and have a sign-up sheet for those interested in attending the council.
