Showcasing staff nurses each month of the year
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, December 4, 2007
ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® (MRP) champions at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in Richmond, VA--an MRP recipient in 2006--wanted to illustrate how staff nurses were involved with the 14 Forces of Magnetism every day throughout the year. So they came up with a fun way to show the entire organization what staff nurses were doing: they made a calendar illustrating staff nurses incorporating the 14 Forces of Magnetism into their daily nursing practice. MRP champions visited each unit to take photos of staff nurses, and the photo finalists were determined by a vote from the champions. The 12 month calendar displayed each Force of Magnetism, but to fit them all in, February and March highlighted two Forces.
