A manager that uses coaching skills effectively helps staff understand their role, encourages employees to perform better, and provides direction to the team. As a coach, you serve as the teacher, motivator, resource expert, negotiator, role model, and much more. To be all of these things, you must make known to your staff your:

  • Ethical and moral convictions related to patient care
  • Expectations of the team and what you will not tolerate
  • Commitment to your job description
  • Commitment to the skill level for which you are licensed/certified
  • Willingness to demonstrate self-discipline every day, allowing you to follow the mission/vision of the organization
