To provide education to healthcare students and employees on caring for older patients, the University of Wyoming is hosting the state's first Geriatric Education Center, according to The Wyoming Tribune-Eagle.

The center will provide clinical training sites throughout the state that will focus on geriatric education, funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Additionally, the center will complement the university's teachings on geriatric care and will provide online education programs.

Training will be open to the university's students, as well as nurses and other healthcare professionals in Wyoming. The Tribune-Eagle reports that 75% of healthcare professionals in the state have not had formal geriatric training.
