Oklahoma CNO receives excellence in nursing award
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, November 13, 2007
Linda Merkey, CNO and vice president of patient services at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, recently received the 2007 excellence in nursing award from the Oklahoma Nurses Association (ONA)--her second recognition from the ONA since earning their "excellence in the workplace environment" award in 2003. Merkey was nominated for the award by her peers and colleagues for serving as a professional nurse, promoting an environment of professional autonomy, and for enhancing the nursing profession at Integris Baptist. For the past 29 years, Merkey has served at Integris Baptist in clinical, managerial, educational, and administrative positions and took on the large role of helping the facility achieve ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designation this year.
