Budgeting for the written documentation
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, November 13, 2007
When deciding funds to be spent on the ANCC Magnet Recogntion Program® (MRP) process, facilities must determine whether the MRP budget will be separate or included in the nursing administration budget. The budget should include funds for supporting nurses in becoming certified, copying costs for any handouts related to the program, books to support leaders and staff, travel for staff to MRP conferences, and more. But take care to not deplete the funds before it comes time for writing and submitting the documentation. Make sure enough money is left over at the end of your journey for the following expenses:
- Appraiser honorarium for reviewing the written documentation
- Shipping the documentation
- Site visit (appraiser travel expenses and fees)
- Consultant fees (if you choose to have a consultant)
- Proofreader/reviewer
- Copying and binding
