Government grades hospitals' heart care

Hospitalist Leadership Connection, July 4, 2007

A new government report grades hospitals for their ability to care for heart patients. The report measures hospitals against the average level of care in the nation, according to an Associated Press article.

Almost all the hospitals met or were near the national average for mortality rates. There was a near even split of hospitals that performed better (38) and worse (35) than the national average for heart failure, while more hospitals (17) were above average rather than below (7) for heart attacks.
