Hospitalist Leadership Connection, April 4, 2007

Irvine, CA-based Cogent Healthcare, one of the nation's largest hospitalist companies, plans to move its corporate offices to Nashville by October 2007 and expects to have about 50 of its 350 total employees at its new headquarters, The Tennessean reported on March 31.

Cogent currently staffs and operates hospitalist programs for healthcare organizations in 16 states.

Gene Fleming, Cogent's chief executive officer, said in a press release, "The primary reasons for this decision are to increase our efficiencies and our effectiveness in addressing the needs of our hospital clients, many of which are located on the East Coast," according to the article.

Fleming further stated that Nashville is a logical choice for the new headquarters due to its high concentration of hospital and healthcare-related companies, the article reported.
