Article provides tips for hospitalist job-seekers
Hospitalist Leadership Connection, March 21, 2007
An article in the March 2007 issue of Today's Hospitalist says that while hospitalists now enjoy the luxury of receiving multiple offers in the current job-seeker's market, they still must ask the right questions in interviews to ensure that they land the best position.
Further, the article notes, rushing through interviews without sufficiently researching the job can lead to stress, burnout, and turnover-detriments to both the physician and the employer.
As a result, hospitalist job seekers should consider the following tips with regard to the interview process, according to the article:
Look beyond geography and compensation
Know your own objectives
Get your personal house in order
Always make time for a phone interview
Prepare for probing questions
Don't badmouth other employers
Don't leave the interview without asking what the next steps are
