Article portrays a day in the life of a hospital
Hospitalist Leadership Connection, March 7, 2007
A Boston Globe article on February 25 portrayed a day in the life of a typical hospital, focusing on Newton-Wellesley (MA) Hospital.
According to the article, a hospital resembles a city within a city, with its own rhythms, workday, night life, and a diverse collection of citizens (patients) ranging from professionals to engineers and volunteers at all levels of the socioeconomic spectrum.
Through anecdotes and interviews, the article depicts the typical workflow of all types of individials in the hospital-from an emergency department triage nurse and the hospital CEO as he chairs a services and operations committee meeting, to a 95-year-old patient preparing for her first overnight hospital stay.
