Long-term care quality crisis headed for Louisiana

A quality-of-care crisis is on the horizon for Louisiana skilled nursing facilities, according to the Louisiana Nursing Home Association (LNHA). The LNHA said that facilities in the hard-hit state must grapple with rising labor costs and a delay of federal relief in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Payroll costs for nursing facilities have increased by 80% since the hurricane because the hurricane displaced so many workers.
