Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm has launched the Michigan Health Information Network, an initiative to create a statewide health information network. The initiative brings together 300 stakeholders from healthcare, information technology (IT), consumer protection, and other industries to enable the e-health exchange, Government Health IT reports.

CyberMichigan, a division of the nonprofit research firm Altarum Institute, received a $190,000 federal grant to help with the initial design of the network. The 300 stakeholders divided into workgroups to determine a timeline for developing the network and will try to find ways to best use health IT, improve patient safety, and reduce healthcare costs.
