The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) will consider releasing samples of the 1918 deadly flu virus to nongovernment research labs to aid in their research of killer germs such as the Spanish flu, reports The Associated Press.
The CDC created 10 vials of the virus, each containing about 10 million infectious particles. The CDC headquarters in Atlanta is storing the vials. Requests for release of the virus will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, the CDC says.
