Health information technology firms Healthvision and Allscripts are partnering to enable healthcare providers and community-based initiatives (e.g., regional health information organizations), to share health information. Through the collaboration, Healthvision will add Allscripts' electronic health records (EHR) system to its services, providing new Web functions, such as e-prescribing, to its physician clients. The 220 physicians in the New York-based regional health information organization Adirondack Regional Community Health Information Exchange, which Healthvision partnered with in November, are already using the new tools, according to the companies.
