Oregon State University's student health services will give its more than 19,000 students electronic medical records (EMR), the university reports. The university will use clinical information provider eClinicalWorks' software for EMR, an online patient portal, and practice-management tools.

Each student will receive a password to enter his or her health information and immunization history. Students will also receive health reminders from their doctors and have the ability to schedule appointments, and see lab results and medical bills online.

The EMR system allows clinicians to securely exchange information with other doctors in the network and access patients' complete medical histories, medications, allergies, notes and information from prior visits, lab results, and medical charts. The practice-management software aims to streamline the office-billing process.
