The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality will give the Delaware Healthcare Information Network $4 million in federal aid over the next four years to develop a regional health information organization (RHIO), The Delaware News Journal reports. The funding will help design an electronic network that will give healthcare providers access to patient information from different medical facilities.

In 2004, the network received $700,000 in federal aid to examine existing electronic systems and determine how much it would cost the state to build and operate a statewide health information network. The $4 million will go to project management, security, implementation, and training, The News Journal reports.
