Background checks gain momentum

Massachusetts recently joined the list of states that now require criminal background checks of physicians. State regulators have begun conducting such checks on all physicians applying to practice in the state, according to a January 11, 2005 Associated Press report.

In other news, Assemblyman William Horne, D-Las Vegas, plans to introduce a bill requiring criminal background checks for physicians in Nevada, according to a January 10, 2005 report from the Las Vegas Review Journal.
