The poor and uninsured aren’t crowding the ED

The majority of patients crowding emergency departments in hospitals cross the country are not poor and uninsured, according to a report recently published by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).

The report found that poor health drove the majority of ED patients to the hospital. According to the ACEP, 85% of ED patients have insurance and 79% have incomes above the poverty level.
