New York legislators are considering a program that would require hospitals to conduct background checks on all facilities that employ healthcare workers, according to a Long Island Business News report.

The proposed legislations would expand current state law that requires credentialing and background checks of only employed physicians, physician assistants, dentists, and podiatrists to include nurses and pharmacists.
