Senate action may affect nurses' overtime pay

The U.S. Senate recently voted against overtime regulations proposed by the Bush administration. The opposition could cause millions of workers, including some nurses, to lose pay for working extra hours, according to an American Nurses Association (ANA) report. 

However, this latest Senate vote does not guarantee the overturn of the new overtime rules because the amendment is attached to a corporate tax bill that many believe will be passed, according to the ANA.
