Physician-led hospitals earn higher performance scores

Physician-led hospitals may outperform those with nonphysician managers, according to research from the Institute for the Study of Labor.
Researchers analyzed performance ratings for the top 100 hospitals ranked by U.S. News & World Report in 2009. Of the 1859 hospitals included, physician-led hospitals scored more than 25% higher than those with nonphysician managers.
