Hospitalists involved in Ohio initiative to reduce readmissions and infections

The state of Ohio is launching a healthcare quality collaborative to tackle two common issues facing hospitals: readmissions and infections, according to the The Hospitalist eWire. The Quality Institute of the Ohio Hospital Association is comprised of hospital administrators, physicians, and other clinicians to combat these issues.
"Hospitalists are on the front lines of quality," says Craig Cairns, MD, MPH, a hospitalist and vice president of medical affairs at Licking Memorial Health Systems in Newark, Ohio. "But it helps to get a statewide or regional group together to share problems and potential solutions."
