Will physician burnout hamper healthcare reform?

Thirty to forty percent of physicians experience burnout during their careers, often related to excessive workloads, difficulty balancing life and work, and diminishing on-the-job satisfaction, according to a recent article in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Most research regarding health care reform has focused on legislative, logistic, and legal hurdles, but not on how healthcare reform will affect physicians’ well-being.
