Academic hospitalists suffering from burnout

Although the majority of academic hospitalists report high levels of job satisfaction, they also report high levels of stress, which may damper a budding field, according to a study in the Archives of Internal Medicine. Hospitalists in academic institutions overburdened with nonteaching clinical work, which may leave them with little time for research or the opportunity to advance to senior positions.
