Facilities with hospitalists may yield more patient satisfaction

Hospitalist Leadership Connection, March 29, 2011

Press Ganey reported that facilities with hospitalists may lead to better patient satisfaction scores, according to a study in the March/April American Journal of Medical Quality.

Based on a 38-item survey scored using a five-point rating system, the findings suggest  that patients are more satisfied with nursing and personal issues, such as privacy, emotional needs, and response to complaints in facilities that utilized hospitalists.

“Exploring how specific hospitalist functions influence patient satisfaction may reap rewards,” states the study.
