Incremental process improvements not enough to change healthcare

In the March 2 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association, authors Simon C. Mathews, BA and  Peter J. Pronovost, MD, PhD highlight the fact that the incremental improvements hospitals take to improve patient safety and the quality of care are often not enough to have a major affect on healthcare overall. They recommend that the healthcare system adopt a systems integration approach, much like Boeing has done in the aviation industry.
