Hospitalist outsourcing becoming more common

A hospitalist not employed by a hospital sees an average of 19% more patients than his or her institutional counterparts, according to the Medical Group Management Association. Nonemployed hospitalists may be more productive, but do they cost less? Are they easier to manage?
