Palliative programs double

According to the recently released data from the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC), the number of hospital-based palliative programs have more than doubled from fiscal year 2000 to 2008, with an increase of 125.8%, according to a CAPC press release.

Larger hospitals are more likely to utilize a palliative care program. More than 80% of hospitals with 300 or more beds have a palliative care program, compared to only 40% of hospitals with 50-74 beds.
