Although MSPs often work behind the scenes, what they add to the focused professional practice evaluation (FPPE) process directly affects the quality of physicians who practice at their hospitals. 

To make the most out of this opportunity, MSPs should fully understand the role they play in FPPE. Granted, the breadth of the role varies from hospital to hospital—some MSPs may be minimally involved, whereas other MSPs may spend a significant percentage of their time focusing on FPPE—but the fundamentals are universal.
