The comments and e-mails came rushing in about an article entitled, “Are Hospitalist Physician Assistants the Answer to Shortages?” from HealthLeaders Media, based on a recent article by The Mayo Clinic, published in the January issue of Journal of Hospital Medicine. The Mayo Clinic Arizona announced the first PA program dedicated to hospital medicine, a 12-month program that Mayo explains has positive results—PAs function at the same level as those that have been learning on the job for three or four years.
