The CMS inpatient coding changes that took effect on January 1 have many hospitalist leaders wondering if it will help or hurt their inpatient programs.
Director of Hospitalist Programs Richard E. Rohr, MD, MMM, FACP, FHM, at Guthrie Healthcare System in Sayre, PA, says the following:
Up until now, there have been a set of codes for services that are provided by physicians who see their own patients, and then there is a set of codes for consultations.
