HLA will explore specialty programs in upcoming issues. This month, we look at the increasing trend of pediatric hospitalist programs.
Pediatric hospitalist programs are blossoming. In fact, 25% of current pediatric hospitalist programs are less than two years old, according to Pediatric Hospitalists: Training, Current Practice, and Career Goals, a study that appeared in the March Journal of Hospital Medicine.
“The degree of growth is unknown at this time, but it is safe to say that it is growing,” says Gary L. Freed, MD, MPH, professor of pediatrics at the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor and author of the study.
