The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT) has recently announced that it has approved new certification standards for ambulatory, inpatient, and emergency department electronic health records (EHR). In addition to the criteria and test scripts, CCHIT is publishing a companion guide that walks readers through the characteristics of a qualified EHR as described in President Obama’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The materials will be published tomorrow (May 29).
