Margolis & Company, a certified public accounting and business consulting firm, this month released its Healthcare Personnel Salary Survey, offering salary details for nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs).
According to the survey of 2,300 medical practices in the greater Philadelphia area, the overall mean salary for NPs is $83,200, and salaries range from $40,000-$94,500.
The mean salary for PAs is $74,900, and salaries range from $28,000¬-$105,000. The survey indicates that salaries vary by specialty and size of practice.
“You may note that several areas of compensation appear to have a different pattern than one might expect. As this survey shows, larger medical groups do not always pay more than smaller ones for similar skill sets. In addition, some practices are paying more for starting or intermediate staff than for long-term employees due to better training and education in younger staff,” according to the survey.
