As lenders tighten their belts, hospitals are finding it more difficult to secure the funding they need to update facilities, purchase technologies, and maintain their staffing levels.

According to the American Hospital Association (AHA), hospitals rely on borrowed money, philanthropy, and reserves to fund capital projects, and all three resources are scarce.
