Arrange to meet with the chair of each committee, even if only for 15 minutes, to plan and go over the agenda before each scheduled committee meeting. Agenda items should include:
- The date
- The time the meeting will begin and end
- The location of the meeting
- The name of each topic’s presenter, if someone other than the chair
- The amount of time allowed for each topic (the meeting should be no longer than one hour)
- Any pre-meeting preparation expected of the participants (for example, attach any required reading)
This week’s tip is adapted from Assessing your Medical Staff Office: Tools for Productivity by Beverly E. Pybus, CPMSM and Nancy Lian, CPCS, CPMSM.
