It’s not every day that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) grants deeming authority to an organization. In fact, it’s been 30 years. In September 2008, CMS granted deeming authority to Det Norske Veritas (DNV) as a national hospital accrediting organization. This means that hospitals have one more choice to consider for accreditation, and medical staff members and hospital leaders should learn what this new agency brings to the table.
