Patient satisfaction soars to all-time high, says Press Ganey survey
Hospitalist Leadership Connection, September 30, 2008
Patient satisfaction has experienced an “unprecedented spike,” according to an announcement last week from the comparative healthcare company Press Ganey Inc., Associates. In March, hospitals publicly released patient satisfaction data in compliance with new reports including Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) measures.
Press Ganey surveyed 1.5 million patients and 1,158 U.S. hospitals from January 2007 to June 2008, finding an increase in the number of patients who rated their hospital as a 9 or 10 and would recommend the facility to others. This new data suggests that hospital transparency is linked to high quality healthcare, according to the press release.
