Simplifying the medical staff structure

Transitioning from a department structure to a clinical service structure requires more than simply swapping the word “department” with “clinical service” in the hospital’s bylaws. Marna Sorensen, medical staff services manager at Portneuf Regional Medical Center in Pocatello, ID, says that even though switching to clinical services has saved her medical staff significant time and effort, the medical staff office (MSO) spent nearly one year educating physicians about the change and how it would benefit them.
