Florida Supreme Court makes peer review transparent

Florida physicians might be skittish about participating in peer review activities now that the Florida Supreme Court has made its final decision regarding Amendment 7 of The Constitution of the State of Florida, which makes all peer review information discoverable to the public.

And physicians in Florida aren’t the only ones who may be nervous—physicians across the country wonder if their states will follow Florida’s lead.

What is Amendment 7?

Laura Yaeger, an attorney at Fleming & Associates, LLP, in Houston, says that, in its original form, Amendment 7 allows all Florida patients to access all peer review information and documentation of any state-licensed physician regarding adverse medical events.
