SHM releases results of the State of the Hospital Medicine Movement survey

According to the 2007-2008 Authoritative Source on the State of the Hospital Medicine Movement, the Society of Hospital Medicine’s bi-annual survey, the average hospitalist sees more than 2,400 patients and is compensated $193,000 per year. The report also states that there are currently 20,000 practicing hospitalists in the US, but that number is expected to grow to 30,000 by the end of the decade.
Survey data was pulled from 440 hospital medicine group leaders from across the nation between October and December 2007. See more results from the SHM survey.
