Video encourages better communication

The Joint Commission's recent adoption of the six core competencies has renewed providers' focus on interpersonal communication. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality is attempting to encourage patients to do their part to improve communication between physicians and patients.
The agency has launched a campaign to encourage patients to communicate with physicians about their health. The campaign includes a five-minute video that shows how patient involvement can reduce medical errors and improve patient outcomes, reports San Mateo County Times.
