Hospitalist Leadership Connection, January 29, 2008
Securing referrals is increasingly important to physicians in all specialties. In the January 14, 2008, issue of Physician's Weekly, Michael Guthrie, MD, chief medical advisor of The Beryl Companies, identified the following "must have" features of successful hospital-based physician referral systems:
- Systems that allow potential patients access to comprehensive physician referral information in the most convenient format (e.g., Internet, telephone, etc.) at the most convenient time
- Tools that allow the healthcare consumer to search for a physician using a variety of criteria
Click here for a list of all six features Guthrie identified as essential for hospital-based referral systems.
